MONROE, N.C. — The Monroe Police Department is searching for a woman who is accused of locking her boyfriend inside a storage unit.

It happened on Feb. 20 at Cooper Storage on Old Charlotte Hwy.

Police said the suspect, Robin Deaton, and her boyfriend got into a domestic incident.

Deaton then locked her boyfriend inside the storage unit, according to police.

The boyfriend was locked inside the unit for four days before he managed to find his phone and contact the police.

“That’s insane,” resident Eric McCorkle said. “He’s lucky he got out. I guess he’s lucky he had a phone in there. I would say if he didn’t have a phone in there, he would have been in big trouble.”

Police told Channel 9 that the boyfriend was taken to an area hospital but has since been released.

However, if the temperatures were cooler, his condition could have been much worse.

Police said Deaton is wanted for attempted murder and kidnapping.

However, she has not been arrested.
